法王如意宝与慈当寺的因缘

 

法王如意宝与迟当寺的缘分非常深厚。法王于公元一九八四年为迟当寺主持开光仪式。法会连续举行 三天,高僧大德云集,从四方远来的信众无数,盛况空前,诸天赞叹。

 

仪式开始的当天,法王如意宝当场预言: 未来佛陀的教法在迟当寺有如万丈高阳普照世间,广利无量有情。法王也鼓励信众常到迟当寺朝拜,将能累积无边功德,灭除无量罪障。

 

自降生之时起,法王便具足了与生俱来的真实无伪之菩提心,并圆满了前世修行大乘道的标志,即大慈悲心和信心等。

 

法王两岁时,伏藏大师列洛林巴的弟子伏藏大师王修达西、喇嘛邓多及喇嘛洛德、喇嘛阿航拉如等许多上师根据列洛林巴大师等的授记及上师具有的稀有标志,确认晋美彭措上师是列洛林巴转世之化身。

 

六岁时,虔诚祈祷文殊狮子吼后,得加持相,不经学习便掌握了读和写,显密经论的大致教义自然通达,一切自能领悟,能了知各种密义的神通皆显现无阻。童年时代,在玩耍时便轻而易举地开发出很多宝箧和佛像。从此开始开取众多伏藏。十四岁出家,依止堪布四朗仁庆等闻思显密经论,并开始转法轮。

 

十五岁时因诚祈全知麦彭仁波切,生起大圆满殊胜觉悟,证悟了光明大圆满真实义,得到高尚成就。

 

十六岁时不经思考便写了大圆满的讲义,如今收在其著作集中。(法王的著作包括以大圆满为主要内容的四大卷论著。其著作是经过祈祷上师本尊和入定后,所写义理由心中顿时全部显现。)十八岁,法王到石渠江玛大学校(江玛寺)。六年中,依止大成就者土单曲彭吉祥贤(并成为其上首弟子)以及拉竹仁波切等众多上师,学习共同学问、显密经论,特别是接受了很多大圆满的灌顶和论著及讲义的传承。最终闻思显密一切经论已臻究竟,并成为大智者,得大自在。法王精通共同学问和显密的一切经论,对于五明,悉皆通达,乃一切智者。他彻证法界,得究竟圆满成就。法王在现量或梦境中见过文殊菩萨、莲花生大师、宗喀巴大师、龙钦绕降尊者、空行母移西措嘉、全知麦彭仁波切、萨迦班智达、格萨尔王等,并于大光明梦境中遍游十方诸佛国土。这些在广传中有详细记载。

 

二十二岁时受比丘戒,严持戒律,成为众多持律者之上首。修习无上金刚乘大法,成就生圆次第之证果迹象多达无数。现在常住五明的几千眷属(弟子)都是清净持戒的出家人,在家弟子也都守持五戒等。

 

二十四岁起,除转法轮外,常闭关静修生圆次第和光明大圆满。并念诵近十亿本尊心咒。

 

二十六岁后的二十多年间,藏地佛道遭受破坏,法王仍不断地在寂静处为有缘弟子转法轮,慈悲度生。每逢有人强迫法王诽谤三宝、斗争自己的上师和道友时,便显现满脸肿胀令人望而生畏的病相, 而他自身却毫无痛苦之感,因此法王从未造过诽谤三宝之罪。每当出现魔害、疾疫、火灾等灾难时,法王一作加持即能制止。这些亦为我人亲见、众多事例所证实。

 

 His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and his close affinity with Chi Dang Monastery

His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche had a strong karmic affinity with Chi Dang Monastery and had previously made many visits to this monastery. In 1984, Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche had officiated the opening ceremony of Chi Dang Monastery which lasted 3 days participated by many great masters and lay practitioners from all over.

On the 1st opening day, His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche sat on the throne and while gazing into the eastern horizon, he saw the rising of the blazing radiance of the Sun and said: “This is an auspicious sign that indicates that Chi Dang Monastery will become a beacon of dharmic light radiating out to benefit countless sentient beings.”

Rinpoche encouraged people to make their holy pilgrimages to Chi Dang Monastery for blessings and accumulations of immeasurable merits and purification of negative karma.

Since birth, Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche has a natural and exceptional disposition of bodhicitta towards others. This is the result of his previous accomplishment of great compassion and faith.

When Rinpoche was two years old, he was recognized by a few great Masters who are the disciples of his previous reincarnation as Lerong Lingpa - a terton master. His disciples were Wangsiu Daxi, Lama Dendup, Lama Lode, Lama Ah Hung Laru, just to name a few.

Based on the prophecy by the Great Terton Master Lerong Lingpa written in a prediction letter, his disciples were able to find and recognize His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche who exhibited all the special marks of a great being.

At the age of six, Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche sincerely recited the supplication prayer “The Lion’s Roar” to Manjusri and with the blessings of Manjusri, he was able to fully accomplish reading, writing and realizing all the sutra scriptures of the Mahayana and Vajrayana Vehicles without studying. In his childhood, while playing, he was able to retrieve the treasures and Buddha Statues easily.

From then on, Rinpoche was able to retrieve terma treasures.

He took up the robes when he was 14 years old and went under the tutelage of Khenpo Zelang Renqin and at the same time, he started turning the Dharma Wheel. When he was 15 years old, he sincerely prayed and requested Mipham Rinpoche to give him the blessings to realize the Dzogchen and accomplished the Path. At 16 years old, without thinking, he wrote the teachings of Dzogchen which is now kept in the Larung Gar Sertha Buddhist Institute.

At 18 years old, Rinpoche went to Jiangma Monastery. For 6 years, he received teachings from Tudan Chepong Zi Siang Xian and became one of his most-learned disciples. He also received teachings from La ju Rinpoche and many other great masters.

He learned all the Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist scriptures as well as receiving all the empowerments and teachings of the Dzogchen lineage and achieved Supreme Liberation.

He was able to see and dream of Manjusri Buddha, Guru Rinpoche, Tsongkapa and Longchen Rabjam, Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal, Mipham Rinpoche, Sakya Pandita and King Gesar and many others sublime phenomenon. In his dream yoga practice, he could visit the Purelands of the Ten Directions.

At 22 years old, he received the Bhikhu vows and observed them strictly and achieved the highest rank. He practised the supreme Vajrayana vehicle and upon fully accomplishing the practice, many auspicious signs appeared.

At 24 years old, Rinpoche not only continuously turned the Dharma Wheel; he would often go into retreats on the Great Perfection and recited a 100 million heart mantra of his Yidam.

From his age of 26 years old to the next 20 years, many holy places in Tibet were destroyed. Rinpoche was not deterred and continuously turned the Dharma wheel to benefit countless sentient beings that had karmic affinity with him.

When he was forced to slander the 3 Jewels, his Guru or vajra siblings, he would manifest a sickly appearance without experiencing any physical suffering. In his entire life, Rinpoche was an excellent master who upheld strict vows and supreme faith in the 3 Jewels.

Each time when catastrophes, epidemics and harms from demons strike, Rinpoche was able to appease and pacify them with the power of his blessings. By these, one is able to see that His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche was a great master of excellent, unsurpassable qualities of this era.

 

 

前住持简介——德巴堪布

 

德巴堪布是法王如意宝最亲密的意子之一,几乎是五明佛学院所有堪布活佛和老常住们的上师。记得有人说过,他是贝玛莫扎尊者的化身。

 

大善知识德巴堪布仁波切藏历十六胜生周水猴年  (公元一九三二年) 出生于四川省炉霍县境内罗科玛一处名为绕库的地方。父亲若桑是瑜伽士,母亲娃扎堪巴。堪布出生时天空出现很多吉祥的鸟儿,叫声非常优美,他的母亲以此给堪布取名为德巴。

 

德巴堪布从小对三宝有不共之信心,对众生怀有猛烈之慈悲心及平等心,对他人的要求,有求必应。七岁时父亲 教他学习藏文,修佛像,做朵玛,吹锣打鼓以及舞蹈音乐绘画等知识技艺。在同一年里,小小年纪的他就担当起多芒寺香灯师及闭关管家的重任。到了十五岁那一年,堪布在该寺一位阿阇黎给秋仁波切前出家并如理地听受了许多种引导法门。

 

十九岁依止白玉大堪布班玛上师,潜研教理勤苦修持,精通显密教法。在长达九年的时间里,听闻了从戒律到光明大圆满之间浩瀚如海的显密法理,通过闻思修行彻底断除一切怀疑,成为了一位名副其实的智者,并生起 了明显成就的证悟,得受了堪布的美名桂冠。历代传承上师们的意传加持已融入了心相续中,成为殊胜上师心子中的佼佼者。关于这一点,从堪布亲笔所造的《远唤至尊上师》一文中就可明显看出。

 

此中云:“虽无信心精进根亦钝,然依上师全盘所恩赐,数多成熟解脱道次第,尤其最密心滴之精髓,区分心与觉性之差别,究竟觉性妙力自成要,意传加持已入自相续,心智融为一体唤上师。所有金刚道友聚会中, 唯一名义冠冕赐予我,以金刚语赞叹予安慰,呼唤赐予恩典大恩师。”

 

堪布数十年来广闻佛法,严持净戒,勤修深道密法,为诸方传讲妙法不间断,是一代名副其实的大圆满金刚上师,诚为甚难一遇的大善知识。堪布通晓许多技艺,诸如绘画,造佛像,医术等。

 

从二十八岁到四十岁之间,限于时局混乱不堪的逆境而不得不屈身步入寻常百姓的行列中,从事放牧、托运货物、作木匠等。历尽种种艰辛,还曾坐过几个月的监牢。尽管是在这样政策深严佛教徒无有自由的艰难岁月中,堪布去放牧时腰里仍然带着经书,在牛马羊群吃草时,他就在山谷、树林等处坚持不懈的博览经论。在那一段漫长的日子里,虽然白天要做木工活、种地等辛苦劳作,可是到了晚上夜深人静的时候,他在背地里借着昏暗的灯光悄悄的阅读经典、撰写论著等,平时也是孜孜不倦的闻思修行,十年如一日从未间断。在当时的年代,整个藏地完全笼罩在边地非法恶见的黑暗之中,不见天日。即使是在这样罪行遍布大地的时期里,仍旧有少数像堪布那样的高僧大德”犹如莲花不着水,亦如日月不着空”般不被任何违缘、罪恶所污染,证相与功德等宛若上弦月一样渐增圆满,就好狂风中永不熄灭的酥油灯一样发出正义的亮光。他们这种不折不扣的事迹实在难能可贵、堪为奇闻。

 

四十三岁与法王如意宝密法相见,因缘合和,如意宝邀请堪布前往喇荣圣地弘扬显密教法。德巴堪布是一位德高望重,深受爱戴的大善知识,许多活佛也在他老人家坐下恭听过《大圆满前行》等法要,从而对佛法生起坚定不移的定解。有一回,堪布回家乡,给班玛德勒活佛,索达吉堪布与五十多名僧人传大圆满前进引导文。

 

堪布对大圆满有很大的信心,堪布说: 认识大圆满见最主要是要了知自心本体是空性,空性之中光明不灭。这种光明并不是外境的色法,它是大悲的名分,是现前一切诸法之根本,这是心的特点,我们的贪心、嗔心等。这也是大悲不灭的明分,而信心等清净心也是心的大 悲明分,了知心的本体是空性,恒时不灭自性光明,大悲周遍,这是大圆满见修的核心。有一点大家务必记住,要证得大圆满这种俱生的清净智慧,除了上师加持以外,本来不需要其他的外缘如经中说“当知胜义俱生智,唯依资净障力,及与具证师加持,依止他法成愚痴。”首先的积累资粮,忏除罪障,都是为了得到传承上师的加持,大圆满的基道果,全部包括在上师的加持之中,因此在具有三恩德的根本上师前应当经常祈祷,祈求上师的证悟意加持融入自心,上师的心与自心本来平等一味,但我们没有了达,所以应当通过各种方法使自心与上师的智慧无二无别,师徒的心慧无二。

 

这是宁玛巴传承中一个重圣的教言,自心本性与上师的智慧无二无别,都是本体空性,自性光明,大悲周遍,悟达本来如是一味平等。上师的智慧蜜意时刻不离开自心,以此对根本上师生起无比信心,这一点最为重要。修持大圆满,在理论方面非常广大,堪布认为将修持大圆满归纳起来,也就是对根本上师要有虔诚的信心,这一点希望大家不要忘记。德巴堪布曾为五明佛学院汉僧经堂五六百求法者恩赐了殊胜佛法甘露醍醐。

 

公元一九八零年修建多芒寺大经堂,为三层楼建筑。帝查活佛生前立下修复大经堂之夙愿,不幸中道而逝,由德巴堪布完成修复大经堂遗愿。从八五年开始, 堪布在多芒寺建讲修学院,传讲以全知荣索班智达、无垢光尊者,尤其全知麦彭仁波切自宗为主的经论。显宗方面的《戒律花鬘论》、《知者入门》、《释量论 大疏》、《中观根本论》、《入中论》、《中观四百颂》等中观三论、《中观庄严论》注释以及《现观庄严论》注释等五部大论:密宗方面之《大圆满前行》、 《大幻化网总说光明藏论》、《大幻化网大疏遣除十方黑暗》、《如意宝藏论》、嘎多大堪布尼丹所著的《密集续大论》《功德藏》的注疏等。十几年间一直不辞辛劳的弘传教法,使佛的火焰死灰复燃。

 

从宗教政策稍有放宽以来,一有空闲时机他老人家就会来到喇荣五明佛学院,在众生怙主法王如意宝座下恭听灌顶、传承及窍诀等显密诸多法义,成了上师法王最亲密的意子。五明佛学院教务处也曾以学院的名义邀请堪布来此广传《密集续》等显密诸多教法,由此,佛学院常住的所有僧众几乎无不成为他的弟子,普蒙法恩。

 

公元一九八二年迟当寺开始重建,重建工作由大堪布德巴上师以两年的时间完成,从寺院的建筑工程到所有的彩绘佛像塑造,都由堪布亲力亲为,整个工程熔铸着堪布无比的加持和无上的功德。

 

此外,堪布还于卢霍、色达、道孚、丹巴、阿坝等各地为在家男女老幼开示奉行善法的正道,使与之结缘的众生同沾法益,利众事业极为广大。关于堪布仁波切绘画佛像、塑造佛像等方面的事迹虽有许但于此不再广述。

 

本来,堪布仁波切内在的信心、悲心、证相的功德等就像宝藏一样源源不断的涌现,可是外表却无有丝毫自倨傲慢的神态,对名闻利养拒于千里之外,长期以来始终过着知足少欲的朴素生活。

 

当今时代的人们普遍注重、喜爱外在的装束、排场和名气,因此许多人只是将堪布仁波切当做一般的一位保守的老喇嘛看待而已,可是,当你认真地阅读了他老人家所造的解释深密经续的好作品,就能明显的感觉到,虽然表面上人人都相同,实际上相同之中也蕴含着许不同的特点。德巴堪布仁波切为了使人们能深入理解佛法的奥义,利无边无量的众生,撰着了《入中论释》、《定解宝灯论释》、《兴盛教法愿文释》、《一子续注释》、诸经者的赞文,以及打卦、算命等作品,此还有大圆满方面的教言,共有四函。

 

堪布在讲经说法、著书立说的同时,也培养了许多佛学深厚、戒律清净、智能超群的大德,如今将显密教法在海内外加以弘传,利乐无边有情。

A Brief Biography of Khenpo Teba, the former Abbot of Chi Dang Monastery

 

Khenpo Teba is the closest heart disciple of His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and he is also the teacher of many khenpos, Rinpoches and old residence monks of the Larung Gar Sertha Buddhist Institute.

Khenpo Teba was born in 1932 in Sichuan Province. His father Lozang was a yogi and his mother’s name was Wanzha Gamba. When he was born, there were many auspicious birds with beautiful sounds and so his late mother named him Teba.

As a child, he held the 3 jewels with high reverence and great faith. Khenpo Teba shows great compassion and equanimity towards others and he would always try to fulfill their requests and wishes.

At the age of 7, his father taught him to speak the Tibetan language; make holy statues and Tormas; play the Tibetan instruments, dance, music, drawing, and many other creative

skills.

In the same year, he was given the responsibility to take care of the shrine hall and the retreat centre at Durmang Monastery. When he reached 15 years old, he was ordained by Gechoe Rinpoche and received his teachings and guidance.

At the age of 19 years old, Khenpo Teba studied and learned in depth the scriptures of the Mahayana and Vajrayana Vehicles while under the tutelage of Khenpo Padma of the Palyul

Lineage.

Throughout the 9 years, he studied the basics of the Buddha-Dharma right up to the Great Perfection. By his thorough studies and investigation of the Buddhist scriptures, he was able to eradicate all doubts and became the Fully Awakened One.

For many years, Khenpo Teba has received and listened to countless Dharma teachings. He observes strict vows and practiced diligently in the secret tantric path; and tirelessly gave teachings to many sentient beings and became a Vajra Master of the Great Perfection.

During the Chinese revolution, from the age of 28 to 40, he had to don the clothes of a householder and worked as a carpenter, delivery man and a shepherd as well as many other kinds of work. He had gone through great hardships and was also imprisoned for numerous months.

Despite these sufferings, he would always carry a Dharma text tucked under his belt and whenever the cows, goats and horses were grazing, he would diligently read the text.

Though Khenpo Teba had to work very hard during these difficult times, he never forgot the Dharma. Upon nightfall, he would secretly follow the moonlight so that he could see to read and write the scriptures. Those were the times when the entire Tibet had plunged into a “dark abyss” where no Dharma was heard or seen for a long time.

At the age of 43, Khenpo Teba met His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. When conditions ripened, he was invited to Larung Gar Sertha Buddhist Institute to give Dharma teachings. He was a Master of noble virtue highly revered by many.

Many Rinpoches received teachings from him on the preliminary practices and this created the cause for them to develop great faith towards the 3 Jewels.

When Khenpo Teba returned to his hometown, he transmitted the teachings and the supplication prayers of the Great Perfection to Mani Lama Padma De Qing, Suo Dachi Khenpo and 50 other Sanghas.

|Khenpo Teba has great faith towards the Great Perfection and he says:

This is the most auspicious teaching of the Nyingma Lineage and it is important to note:

It is of utmost importance that one is to realize that one’s Buddha-nature is inherently empty and yet its nature of luminosity will never be extinguished. This is not achieved through accumulations of external causes and conditions. The quality is of genuine limitless Compassion and is the manifestation of the root of all the Buddha’s teachings. This is the essence of our heart - the Buddha-nature.”

Our greed, hatred, faith and calmness are manifestations of our true nature and are inherently empty. When we recognised and realized the nature of these appearances as inherently empty of independent existence, they transcend into Wisdom and genuine compassion inseparable from all the Buddhas. This is the heart of the Great Perfection.”

To fully accomplish the Great Perfection, it is utmost important for one to receive blessings from the heart Guru without the necessity to rely upon any other external causes and

conditions.

And in order for one to receive the blessings from the lineage of the Heart Guru, one must first accumulate virtues and merits, repent and purify one’s negative karma and has the faith to always supplicate prayers to one’s heart guru to receive and merge to become inseparable from his wisdom mind.

One’s true nature is inseparable from the wisdom mind of the heart Guru which is the state of Emptiness that embodies the supreme quality of luminosity, compassion, wisdom and equanimity.

The wisdom of the heart guru is never separate from one’s true nature and therefore, one must have full faith towards one’s guru which is the essence of the Great Perfection

practice.

In the year 1980, he rebuilt Durmang Monastery’s 3 storey prayer hall. The late Decha Rinpoche made aspiration to build the prayer hall but he passed away before its completion and so Khenpo Teba fulfilled his last wish.

In year 1982, Khenpo Teba rebuilt Chi Dang Monastery within 2 years and he personally oversaw the construction of the monastery and the holy statues which embodied all his virtue and blessings.

The merits of Khenpo Teba’s faith, compassion and realizations are like the precious jewels that sparkle and shine continuously without a tinge of Pride nor does he engage in the 8 worldly concerns. His life is lived in simplicity, humility and contentment.

Nowadays, people are mostly concerned with status, fame, wealth and glory; to many of them, Khenpo Teba looks like an old, ordinary and conservative monk. But when you read the books he has written, one would be able to realize that he has special qualities.

Through his teachings and writings, Khenpo Teba was able to lead and inspire many students to cultivate and awaken their genuine qualities of ethics and wisdom. By these virtuous merits, the teachings of the Mahayana and Vajrayana vehicles spread to many countries and benefitted countless beings.

 

前主持土谢仁波切生平

 

大恩上师土谢仁波切从小出家,是个具有正知正见超凡智慧大悲菩提心的智者,根本上师页克哉乔翁仁邹的大弟子。土谢上师经常闭关修大圆满禅定法,严持净戒,护戒如目,以致身体与所穿衣物、所系腰带、使用过的日常用具皆散发出清净,悠远的清香,做任何事皆有无限禅意, 是一位不可思议的大菩萨,非笔墨所能言语表达。上师于2006年底在慈 当寺示寂化成虹光,成就虹身幻化,当时只留下一件袈裟。

A Brief Biography of the Late Great Tuxie Rinpoche, the former Abbot of Chi Dang Monastery

The Great Noble and highly respected Tuxie Rinpoche was ordained at a very young age and was a highly accomplished authentic master of great compassion and wisdom.

Tuxie Rinpoche was always in retreat practising the Great Perfection and upholding strict vows.

The clothes, belts and daily necessities that he used would emit a fragrance and whatever he did, he was always in a meditative state. He was a Bodhisattva of great compassion where its meaning cannot be fully described with mere words.

He passed into parinirvana at Chi Dang Monastery and his body manifested into the colours of rainbow and only his robe was left behind.
