Amitayus
Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom. By engaging in Amitayus practice, we can develop these qualities, which are essential for our spiritual development, and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment. This practice can be used to help remove obstacles that endanger the lives of others.
Amitayus is depicted as holding a vase of amrita, the precious nectar of immortality which confers longevity, and the leaves of the ashoka tree which symbolize long life without the misery of disease. His body is said to be akin to a ruby mountain radiant like a brilliant pure jewel, eliminating the ignorant and suffering of beings.
Buddha Sakyamuni has spoken about the power and the great benefit of Buddha Amitayus mantra. According to the Sutra, it’s
said that the merits accumulated from offering Buddha with the most precious stones that fill the universe can be counted, but
the merits of recitating the mantra of Amitayus is far too vast to be measured. Lord Buddha also given the example that reciting
Amitayus mantra is liken to ninety nine millions Buddhas remain in Samadhi and chanted the mantra in one voice… thus it’s
extremely powerful.
Amitayus is the Buddha of boundless life, merit and wisdom. By engaging in Amitayus practice we can develop these qualities, which are essential for our spiritual development, and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment.
Sincere practice and devotion to Amitayus is said to help eliminate all obstacles to long life such as sickness and pain, and pacify the possibility of untimely or premature death. The Amitayus practice is important because longevity is an essential contributing condition that allows us more time and opportunity to practice the genuine Dharma to liberate oneself from the Samsara of cyclic existences. We can also engage in this practice to remove obstacles that endanger the lives of other

 Manjusri

Manjusri is a bodhisattva in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions of Buddhism. He is the bodhisattva associated with wisdom, doctrine and awareness and in Vajrayana Buddhism is the meditational deity who embodies enlightened wisdom.

He is depicted wielding a flaming sword in his right hand, representing his realisation of wisdom which cuts through ignorance and wrong views. The scripture supported by the flower held in his left hand is the Prajnaparamita, representing his attainment of ultimate realisation and Enlightenment. Manjusri is frequently depicted in Chinese and Japanese traditions as riding on the back of a lion. Variations upon his traditional form as Manjusri include Guhya-Manjusri, Guhya-Manjuvajra, and Manjuswari, most of which are Tantric forms associated with Tibetan Buddhism. The two former appearances are generally accompanied by a Shakti deity embracing the main figure, symbolising union of form and spirit, matter and energy.

Manjusri is a dharmakaya bodhisattva, which means that unlike an ordinary 10th stage bodhisattva who still has a bit further to go before full enlightenment is attained, Manjusri has no further to go and can attain Buddhahood at any time but has yet to achieve Buddhahood because his vows are not yet fulfilled. It says in a sutra on Manjusri’s attainment of Buddhahood that the benefits gained by keeping Manjusri’s name in mind are superior to the benefits gained by keeping in mind the names of billions of Buddhas. This sutra can be found in “A Treasury of Mahayana Sutras”.

The Lotus Sutra assigns him a paradise called Vimala, which according to the Avatamsaka Sutra is located in the east. His consort in some Vajrayana traditions is Saraswati. He is also sometimes called Manjughosha. Within Tibetan Buddhism, Manjusri is a tantric meditational deity or Yidam, and considered a fully enlightened Buddha.

Guru Padmasambhava

Guru Padmasambhava means “Lotus-Born”. He was a sage guru from Oddhiyana who is said to have transmitted Vajrayana Buddhism in Bhutan and Tibet and neighbouring countries in the 8th century. In those lands, he is better known as Guru Rinpoche or Lopon Rinpoche, or simply, Padum in Tibet, where follower of the Nyingma school regard him as the second Buddha.

He said: “My father is the intrinsic awareness, Samantabhadra. My mother is the ultimate sphere of reality, Samantabhadri. I belong to the caste of

non-duality of the sphere of awareness. My Name is the Glorious Lotus-Born. I am from the unborn sphere of all phenomena. I consume concepts of

duality as my diet. I act in the way of the Buddhas of the three times. His Pureland Paradise is Zangdok Palri - The Copper-coloured Mountain.

He is further considered as an emanation of Buddha Amitabha and traditionally even venerated as “a second Buddha”. He was born into a Brahmin family of Northwest India.

Padmasambhava has influenced countless beings through the Vajrayana teachings and in particular through the activity of the profound terma treasures. This great master was not an ordinary person on the path or just a noble being on one of the bodhisattva bhumis but an emanation of both Buddha Amitabha and Shakyamuni who appeared in order to tame the human beings and spirits who are difficult to convert.

Padmasambhava visited other ancient kingdoms where he taught the Dharma: Hurmudzu in the vicinity of Uddiyana, Sikojhara, Dharmakosha, Rugma, Tirahuti, Kamarupa, and Kancha, as well as many others. It is not sure when he went to the land of Droding, but the tantric teachings he gave there on Hevajra, Guhyachandra Bindu, Vishuddha, Hayagriva, Kilaya and Mamo are still continued to this present day.

Padmasambhava is generally regarded to have lived in India for 3,600 years upholding the teachings and benefitting sentient beings.

In order to convert people in Mongolia and China Padmasambhava emanated in the form of the King Ngonshe Chen and the yogi Tobden. Moreover, he appeared in the country of Shangshung as the miraculously born child Tavi Hricha who gave the instructions on the hearing lineage of Dzogchen and led many worthy disciples to the attainment of the rainbow body.

In this way Padmasambhava’s activity for bringing people to the path of liberation by means of appearing in various places, in various forms, speaking various languages is indeed beyond measures.
